Shiba Foundation, a Guwahati-based socio-cultural non-governmental organization (NGO) organized a health check-up camp.

The camp was organized in collaboration with GNRC Hospital at Kailashpur area in Chandmari, Guwahati on Saturday.

An awareness meeting was also held as a part of the health check-up camp.

Manalisha Bhattacharya, wife of Assam Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya, was the chief guest.

Bhattacharya, while lauding the initiative said, “The doctors from GNRC Hospital have been spontaneously providing their help in organizing the health check-up camps across the city. This is 25th camp of the foundation. With the advent of monsoon, people have been suffering from several chronic diseases like dysentry. Especially, children become affected easily during this season. Health is wealth.”

Dr Uday Bora, Dr Gunabhiram Sarma and Dr Jyotish Sarma were the doctors from GNRC Hospital who attended the camp.

Talking to Northeast Now, Dr Uday Bora said, “ECG, blood pressure check and blood test are available for free. If we found any of the patients critical then we will refer them to a hospital for better treatment.”

Area member of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Ward no 12 part B, Dilip Boro, Shiba Foundation general secretary Ashim Hazarika was also present on the occasion.

A large number of people from adjacent areas including Amiyanagar, Jaypur and Rudranagar also attended the health camp.
