An Indian Army soldier of the 19th Sikh Regiment, Gurlal Singh, currently posted at Pongchau circle of Longding district in Arunachal Pradesh has been arrested by the police for allegedly molesting a minor girl at Bonia village under Pongchau circle of Longding.

The minor’s mother has lodged an FIR in this connection.

According to information, the incident took place during the forenoon on Thursday when the accused entered the house of the victim to use the toilet.

There was no one in the house except the 10-year-old girl whose mother had gone to the neighbour’s house.

He allegedly grabbed the child forcefully and tried to molest her.

However, the minor girl raised hue and cry and managed to escape from his clutches and ran to her mother in the neighbour’s house.

The police later arrested the accused from the spot.

A criminal case has been registered under section 354 IPC with section 10 of POCSO Act 2012.

Meanwhile, an infuriated mob gathered at the spot and tried to take law into their hands.

However, police intervened and brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile, the accused has been produced before the Longding Judicial Magistrate, who has issued order to transfer the case to the court of the District Session Judge, Tezu.
