SHILLONG: Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong has reiterated that the door remains open for the proscribed militant organization Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) to engage in peace talks with the state government.

Meghalaya deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong urged the HNLC to reconsider their stance and return to the negotiating table.

He emphasizes that if the HNLC chooses not to pursue dialogue, then the law of the land will prevail.

Regarding the ongoing investigation into the recent Shillong IED blast, Tynsong stated that authorities are diligently working to determine if additional individuals are involved.

He affirmed that law enforcement agencies in Meghalaya are handling all aspects of the investigation.

Confirming the apprehension of two individuals in connection with the recent killings in Ichamati, the Meghalaya deputy CM warned both local and non-tribal NGOs against exacerbating tensions.

He urges NGOs to exercise restraint, emphasizing that the law supersedes all and the Meghalaya government is committed to ensuring due process.
