Imphal: Nagaland Tourism Minister Temjen Imna Along on Thursday called on the Governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan and discussed a wide range of issues about solving the ongoing impasse between the two communities and restoring peace and tranquillity in the state.
Nagaland Minister’s meeting with the Governor came at a time when the Southern Angami Public Organization (SAPO) of Nagaland are asking the Mao citizens of Manipur residing within the Angami jurisdiction of Nagaland to return to their respective native villages in Manipur with an ultimatum by March 17, 2024.
Along, stressed the need to restore mutual understanding and trust among both communities to create a conducive atmosphere for talks.
The Governor while welcoming the Minister said that to mend the gap and trust deficit between the two communities and initiate a dialogue process would be the only means to solve the ongoing impasse.
The Centre and the state government have been trying their best to set a viable environment so that both the communities can sit together and all impending issues can be solved.
Meanwhile, in connection with the long-drawn issue of land dispute over the ownership of Dzuko-Ozerii between the two communities, the All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM), the apex body of Naga students and youths in Manipur, with a deep concern for both the communities, urged upon all to de-escalate the tension.
A statement issued by the ANSAM calls for peace talks to pave the way for peacefully resolving the issue and recourse to the traditional method of dispute resolution in the spirit of fraternity.
