Imphal: The body of a worker who was reported missing since February 7, 2024, was found riddled with bullet wounds in Manipur’s Imphal East district on Sunday, according to police.

The partly decomposed body was discovered in Molamkarong village, located near the Kangpokpi district border.

A team of Imphal East district police retrieved the body around 7:30 am on Sunday.

“The body had several bullet wounds and was beginning to decompose,” said a police official.

The deceased, who hailed from Sagaithel village in the same district, had been missing since February 7.

Following the discovery, a forensic expert was dispatched to the scene to gather evidence and conduct a scientific analysis.

The body has been transferred to the JNIMS hospital mortuary in Imphal East.

The official added that a case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
