IMPHAL: A joint team of the central and state forces recovered counterfeit currency notes and warlike stores of arms, ammo, and explosives in the search operations launched in the southern parts of Manipur bordering Myanmar during the past 24 hours, a police report said.
A total of six fake currency notes of Rs 200 denominations were recovered when the joint teams of the Manipur police and Assam Rifles launched operations at a hideout of the militants at Dampi village of Manipur’s Churachandpur district predominantly inhabited by the Kuki tribes.
In the follow-up actions, the joint team also carried out a search operation at P Laijang village under Moreh police station of Tengnoupal district of Manipur, which is predominantly inhabited by the Kukis.
In these operations, large numbers of weapons including one 40 mm hand made pipe gun, five country-made hand grenades, two single barrel guns 12mm bore (country-made), three 12mm bore ammos, one 9mm pistol (country-made), one PT 303 rifle, two 7.62mm ammo, one improvised long range heavy mortar (6ft), two improvised long-range mortar ammos, one improvised long-range mortar, fake currencies worth Rs 1200 (Rs 200×06), one pair of shoes, and one bag.
