Guwahati: A man has been arrested in Lower Subansiri, Arunachal Pradesh for allegedly assaulting a minor girl sexually.

The accused, identified as Toko Rajesh has been arrested for allegedly assaulting the minor girl in Deed, Lower Subansiri district, Arunachal Pradesh.

The incident, which occurred on January 21st, saw the minor girl targeted in her rented house.

Following the Likha Youth Association’s (LYA) appeal for the accused’s arrest, Lower Subansiri SP Keni Bagra confirmed Rajesh’s apprehension.

“The accused was produced in court on Wednesday and remains in police custody,” informed SP Bagra, adding that the investigation adheres to Supreme Court guidelines and aims for a chargesheet within 90 days.

The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Child Rights has also taken suo moto cognizance of the case, highlighting the seriousness of the matter.

LYA general secretary Likha Chada further urged lawyers to refrain from representing the accused and appealed to the public to not shelter him.
