Former Congress Minister Atuwa Munda leading a bullock cart rally in Dibrugarh. Northeast Now

The Dibrugarh district Congress on Saturday took out a bullock cart rally here in protest against the steep hike in petrol and diesel prices. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) completed four years in power at the Centre.

The bullock cart rally, which was taken out from the Rajiv Bhavan, here, passed through the main streets of Dibrugarh town. Former Congress Minister Atuwa Munda led the bullock cart rally.

The protestors held placards and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan holding them responsible for the frequent rise in the fuel prices across the country.

Coming down heavily on the BJP-led NDA Government, Munda said the present Narendra Modi-led Government failed miserably to check fuel and diesel prices. He demanded resignation of Modi as the Prime Minister for failing to control the prices of fuel and diesel.

Munda warned that the Congress would intensify its agitation if the Union Government does not take any measure to check fuel prices soon.

The former Congress minister also said, “Fuel prices in the country are skyrocketing and have hit the common man very hard. Ever since the BJP-led NDA came into power in 2014, fuel prices have been on the rise continuously, whereas nowhere else in the world the price of fuel is as high as in our country.

He also hit out at the Narendra Modi Government on the completion of its four years in power at the Centre accusing it of betraying the people by not fulfilling the promises.
