A 20 bedded Plexus Cardiac Care Centre was opened at Srishti Hospital here. It is the first of it’s kind in eastern Assam. Plexus Cardiac Centre (a unit of Plexus Hospitals Pvt Ltd.) in association with Srishti Hospitals and Research Centre, Dibrugarh successfully performed the cardiac procedure of Angiogram on a cardiac patient at Srishti Hospital on Tuesday.

The procedure said to be the first Angiogram in a private healthcare centre in upper Assam was performed by Dr Rabindra Bhattacharya, DNB (Med.)., DM, DNB Cardio, former professor of Calcutta Medical College, department of Cardiology and his team.

“We have started a Cath Lab with 20 bedded Cardiac Critical Care Unit with all non-invasive services in Dibrugarh. There will be 24×7 services with expert medical team in this centre. We are going to start bypass surgery in this centre from July this year,” said Sandeep Shekhawat Chairman, Plexus Hospitals in a press conference in Srishti Hospita in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

Rabindra Bhattacharya said many people across Assam are suffering from Cardio vascular and they get good treatment in this care unit.

“Some have move outside Assam to perform heart operation but very soon we with our dedicated team of doctors will bypass surgery and other heart operation in this care unit. Recently we have done an Angiogram here which was successful,” he said.

Dr Rohit Kumar, Cardiothoracis Surgeon, NH Hospital, Guwahati said, “Maximum open heart surgery was done outside Assam but now we are very sure that we can perform critical heart operation over here”.
