In a scandalous act in the Department of Education, the vice principal of Sidli-Kashikotra Higher Secondary School in Chirang district, who allegedly used fake Master degree certificate, has come to light after the International Human Rights Council, an NGO got details through RTI.

The Director of Education, BTC has assured the NGO of instituting a probe into educational certificate submitted by the vice principal and taking appropriate action if she actually had produced fake certificate to get promotion.

The executive president of the NGO, Indrajit Kr Brahma said they applied an RTI seeking the Master degree certificate of one Malina Dutta, who has been promoted to vice principal of Sidli-Kashikotra Higher Secondary School, Chirang, a year ago and they received the reply on March 15 last.

He said Dutta furnished her MA certificate of Eastern Institute for Integrated Learning in Management University (EIILMU) University, Sikkim.

The executive president of International Human Right Council on Tuesday called on the Director of Education, BTC, Rabi Shangkar Borgoyary alleging that Malina Dutta had been elevated recently to the post of vice principal of the school from the post of ‘Demonstrator’ on the basis of the fake certificates that she had submitted before the authority.

The certificates of MA (Education) and M.Sc. (Chemistry) which she had submitted were not issued by the EIILM University, Sikkim as she had claimed the courses of MA (Education) and M.Sc. (Chemistry) were not in the list of the departments under EIILM University, Sikkim.

Brahma said the certificates, which she submitted in Sidli-Kashikotra HS School had been procured through the RTI applied on March 15, 2018 and for the purpose of verification those were produced before the Registrar (IC), EIILM  University/ Deputy Director, Higher Education, Human Resource Development Department, Sikkim, wherein the Registrar (IC), EIILM University/Deputy Director HRDD, Sikkim declared by issuing a letter that MA  (Education) and M.Sc. (Chemistry) respectively are not recognized subjects by UGC /DEC for EIILM University,  Sikkim as confirmed by the Registrar (I/C), EIILMU/ Deputy Director (HE) HRDD, Ref. 52/DIR/HE/HRDD Dated 10/05/2018.

“Malina Dutta had never studied in the said University and obtained degrees through unfair means,” claimed Brahma.

In this connection, the executive president of the NGO said it was relevant that submission of fake certificate before the authority concerned for the benefit of the government service and promotion by suppressing the original facts by submitting the fake certificates of M.Sc. and MA and making it to believe as genuine which amounts to criminal offence, as such necessary action has to be taken against Malina Dutta.

Meanwhile, the Director of Education, BTC, Rabi Sankar Borgoyary said the department will start a process for inquiry into the fake certificates. He said appropriate action would be initiated against her if the allegation of fake certificates furnished by her is found to be true.
