The ONGC has suspended A K Singh, a Deputy General Manager (Drilling) posted at ONGC Assam Asset, Nazira in Sivasagar district, a press communique received here said.

The senior official was arrested by CBI at Sivasagar on May 16, 2018 in an alleged corruption charge. ONGC would extend all required support to CBI in carrying out its investigation.

ONGC follows a zero-tolerance policy towards any kind of corrupt practices or system aberrations with malafide intentions, the communique further said.

If any individual or group of individuals are found to be non-compliant of the policies and ethics of the company, strictest possible steps as per rules and procedures are taken.

ONGC official was arrested based by the CBI for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs two lakh on Wednesday.  The arrest was made based on a complaint.

The complainant had alleged that the official had demanded a bribe of Rs 12 lakh for passing his pending bills.  A trap was laid in which the official was caught taking a bribe of Rs, 2 lakh.  An FIR was registered yesterday under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
