The students of LCB College here on Friday staged a massive protest after a girl student of the college was allegedly beaten up by a home guard on AT road in Maligaon area of the city.
The students of the college alleged that the 19-year-old student, Tara Singh Chauhan received serious injury on her head when a home-guard, identified as Dinabandhu Das beat up her with a stick at Maligaon for not wearing helmet while riding a bike.
She has been rushed to a city hospital in a serious condition. The home guard, however, escaped from the spot following the incident as angry students gheraowed Jaluklbari police station in the city demanding action against the home guard.
The irate students of LCB College also blocked AT Road demanding strict action against home guard Kalita.
The students later called off their protest after a top police official declared that the accused home guard has been placed under suspension.
