Assam Information Technology Minister Keshab Mahanta during a visit to the District Library situated in Dighalipukhuri asked the authorities to prepare a detailed project report by this month for the renovation of the library, on Sunday.
He said that the library and its books were in a sorry state of affairs, when he was there for a visit.
It was established in 1955 and contains more than 85,000 collections.
The library was initially started at Curzon Hall and in 1959, and later it was shifted to its present building. It has three sections – science and technology, reading and reference and issue.
