Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh on Tuesday launched the much awaited ‘Go to Village’ mission in order to find out the issues and address the grievances of the villages in the State.

The ‘Go to Village’ was launched after the successful introduction of ‘Go to Hills’ mission in the State by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led coalition government in the State.

Rajya Sabha MP Kh Bhabananda, Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly K Robindro Singh, Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, Adhyaksha of Imphal West RK Taruni, Deputy Commissioner N Geoffrey of Imphal West district, Head of Department of various Departments, Officials of various Banks and Zilla Parishad members attended the formal launching function at Laphupat Tera village under Imphal West district, about 48 km south of Imphal.

Addressing the function, Chief Minister Biren said that ‘Go to Village’ was launched across 60 villages in its 60 Assembly constituencies as it was  designed after a thorough discussions and meetings as the present government would work for the welfare of the people.

Stating that the government would extend every possible help to uplift the lives of the people, he assured that such mission would create an opportunity to build a bright future of the people.

There are 2515 census villages in the State and the data collection of the requirements of such village would be completed in 11 months.

While mentioning about the alarming rise of stone cases and cancer among the people of the State, Chief Minister announced that the government would set up a dedicated cancer hospital and a general hospital to cope such health problems soon.

A high end laboratory would be established to examine the causes of such health problems, he added.

Stating that the government doesn’t belong to any political party, it belongs to the people and is for the people, he said the government endorses the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ collective effort towards inclusive growth.

Lok Sabha MP Bhabana addressing the function said that Chief Minister’s initiative ‘Go to the Hills’ rooted out the mistrust and misunderstanding among various communities of the State.

Mentioning that Chief Minister Biren Singh as dynamic leader, he said that ‘Go to Village’ is an innovative idea to deliver government services at people’s doorstep.

Later Chief Minister Birfen distributed welfare assistance to beneficiaries under various departments such as construction of individual household latrines, soil health cards, paddy seeds, weaver cards, sewing machines, CMST a welfare scheme cheques etc .
