A faction of the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) led by Semson Teron said that the statement made by its President at a meeting on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 at Hawaipur in West Karbi Anglong on April 15 which went against the Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, was not to harm anybody’s sentiment.

Teron in a meeting held in Hawaipur allegedly compared the CEM of KAAC with a ‘wild boar’ which was livestreamed on Facebook. The video later went viral in the constituency.

Demanding public apology, a section of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers of Bithung Rengthama took umbrage at criticism of their leader and gathered at PWD IB, Kalanga in West Karbi Anglong on April 16 and asked the KSA leaders to attend the same which the later did not.

KSA President Teron said, “My statement was not to hurt the sentiment of anyone. If it has, then, it was a slip of tongue and it was unfortunate.”
