Bokakhat whitewash

The sub-divisional administration of Bokakhat in Assam’s Golaghat district has taken up slew of measures to beautify the town ahead of Rongali Bihu.

The administration has launched a 15-day cleanliness drive in association with the Numaligarh Refinery authorities.

White washing of government buildings have also undertaken in the town ahead of Rongali Bihu.

The sub-divisional administration has also directed to white-wash all the business establishments among National Highway 37 in the town.

Locals of Bokakhat have lauded the cleanliness drive and the white-washing measures taken under the initiative of newly appointed sub-divsional officer (civil), Vivek Shyam.

The administration has also launched a crusade against illicit country liquor across Bokakhat.

The officers’ recreation centre that was lying in a dilapidated state has also been revived giving it a facelift by the newly appointed SDO (civil).

The SDO (civi) has also taken up the noble initiative of establishing a sub-division library at Bokakhat.

The preliminary works for the construction of the library has already begun.

These efforts are bound to go a long way in enhancing the tourism potential of Bokakhat which lies quite close to the Kaziranga National Park.

However, it remains to be seen as to when the administration revamps the existing four wards of the municipal area into 10 wards, for smooth administrative functioning.
