HE Tomasz Kozlowski

European Union Ambassador to India, H.E. Tomasz Kozlowski has invited students, researchers to avail various opportunities under EU-funded programmes.

He is on a two-day visit to Assam.

The delegation on a visit to the state aims to strengthen the partnership between European agencies and the states in India in areas of trade, clean energy, climate change, education and also combating terrorism, the delegates visited Assam.

The Ambassador announced that EU will provide technical assistance to the first ever 70 MW solar park of Amguri in Assam. Kozlowski said, “We are glad to support the solar project in Assam under the EU-India Clean Energy and Climate Partnership.”

Focusing on educational partnership between the two countries the Ambassador interacted with students of Assam Don Bosco University and IIT-Guwahati.

Pointing out the EU provisions Kozlowski said, “Under Erasmus+ program of EU around 72 students from Assam has attained scholarships over the several years to study in the European Universities.” The Ambassador also welcomes scientist and researchers for a Marie Sklodowska Curie Fellowship in the higher educational hubs of the European countries.

He further added some European countries are facing similar threats as Assam on the issue of migration. According to him it can be tackled jointly only with the help of Global Compact initiatives of the UN. Also, the intention of the EU is to increase trade exchange between India and European countries.

The larger goal of the visit is to start collaborative projects under the Horizon 2020 initiative between EU and India.
