United Sikkim FC began its campaign in the Siliguri Premier League 2018 football tournament on a winning note.

The Gangtok-based football club won their first match of the tournament by a margin of 3-1 goals against Amukta Parivar football club of Siliguri played on Thursday at Milan More ground near Siliguri in West Bengal.

The Siliguri football club tasted first blood by scoring their solitary goal in the first half.

Coming back with vengeance in the second half, Prashant Chettri of United Sikkim FC scored a hat trick to register an emphatic win for his tram.

Notably, teams from Darjeeling hills and Siliguri area are featuring in the Siliguri Premier League.

However, United Sikkim FC, which is based in Gangtok, was extended a special invitation to play in the league.

According to team officials, the league organizers had witnessed the performance of the Gangtok football team in the recently held tournament at Sukna near Siliguri in West Bengal and invited them to play in the Siliguri Premier League also.

United Sikkim FC will face Apex FC of Kalimpong in their next encounter later on Saturday afternoon.
