At least 164 people were killed during the protests in Kazakhstan while almost 6000 people were arrested.

The protests began due to a fuel price hike which had set off a political crisis in the country.

The crisis prompted the president to seek help from a Russia-led security alliance to control the situation.

During the protest that started in western Kazakhstan, the country’s most populous city, Almaty, was left in disarray.

However, it was not yet made clear if the death figures were only related to civilians.

As per reports, Almaty had reported most of the deaths with 103 deaths.

As per reports, among the killed, three were minors which included a 4-year-old girl.

In total there were 2200 official figures of people being injured which included 1300 security officers as well.

Of the protestors, 5800 were detained by the police.

Even administrative buildings were reported to have been occupied by the protestors however, as per the president’s office, security forces were able to regain control of the buildings.
