In yet another massive spike in COVID-19 cases in India, the country on Monday logged nearly 1.80 lakh new cases. 

India reported 1,79,723 cases of COVID-19 on Monday at a positivity rate of 13.29%. 

With the detection of the new cases, India’s COVID-19 active cases tally has crossed the 7-lakh mark. 

With India witnessing the third wave of the virus, cases have surged rapidly across the country. 

This is the fourth day when India’s COVID-19 single-day tally stayed above the 1-lakh mark.

The union ministry of health and family welfare further informed that 146 new COVID-19 deaths were also recorded in the last 24 hours. 

The new deaths have taken the total COVID-19 fatalities tally up to 4,83,936. 

Moreover, the national COVID-19 recovery rate decreased to 96.98 per cent. 

The number of Omicron also surged in India and now stands at 4033. 

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed the officials to ramp up vaccinations.
