The mortal remains of chief of defence staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other military personnel, who lost their lives in Wednesday’s helicopter crash have arrived at Delhi.
The mortal remains of the deceased have been kept at the Palam airbase.
13 out of 14 persons who were onboard the ill-fated helicopter that crashed at Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday lost their lives.
Those deceased included CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife and president of the Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA) and 11 other military personnel.

All 13 bodies were brought to Delhi in an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft from Sulur.
Meanwhile, the Indian Army has stated that severity of the crash led to difficulty in positive identification of mortal remains.
“All possible measures are being taken for positive identification considering the sensitivities and emotional well-being of the loved ones,” the Indian Army informed.
Four bodies, including that of General Rawat, his wife and Brigadier LS Lidder have been positively identified thus far.
