The Assam government is mulling to implement fresh curbs after the state recorded marginal rise in COVID-19 cases post Durga Puja celebrations.
Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta informed that the state government will consider implementing fresh restrictions if the rise in COVID-19 cases doesn’t decline in the coming days.
“On Monday, we had a meeting with the chief minister to discuss the scenario after Durga Puja…we decided on some measures. We will study the situation further for the next few days and take some decisions within a week,” Assam health minister Keshav Mahanta was quoted as saying by HT.
He added: “What the measures would be and how strict the fresh guidelines will be clear only after seeing the graph over the next two to four days.”

On Monday, 298 COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Assam at a positivity rate of 0.73 percent.
On the other hand, COVID-19 positive cases recorded in Assam on Tuesday jumped to 353 at a positivity rate of 0.89 percent.
Although, the Assam government had announced a host of protocols that were to be followed during the Durga Puja celebrations, many people were seen flouting the norms.
