The Congress will field women candidates in 40 percent of the seats that it will contest in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.

This was informed by top Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Tuesday.

“Women can bring about change and they need to step forward,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

“The decision has been taken to change the course of Indian politics,” the Congress leader added.

“We want women in politics to become a full-fledged partner in power. Women politicians would end the politics of hate in the state,” she added.
