Assam police has so far arrested ten members of the newly floated tribal insurgent group United Liberation for Bodoland (ULB) from the BTC districts.

ADGP Dr. LR Bishnoi said as many as ten members of the ULB including self-styled commander-in-chief Ringkhang Basumatary of Chirang district have been arrested so far and they are investigating the root of the new militant organization.

He said many inputs had come out from the arrest of C-in-C Ringkhang Basumatary and cadre Danswrang Basumatary of Baksa.

Out of the ten arrested members, 8 were from Kokrajhar district while two are from Chirang and Baksa, he said.

Bishnoi further said one of the members of United Gorkha People’s Organization (UGPO) was also held along with ULB in Baksa district on Thursday.

Bishnoi called upon ‘misguided’ cadres of the new outfit to return to the mainstream and appealed to all sections of people including literate and responsible citizens to stop airing hate messages, a provocative statement so that it does not bring turmoil situation.

He also called upon all to inform or report to police and other security agencies regarding acts of crime or violence for swift action.
