The Assam Congress has launched an all-out attack on the state government over the clash that broke out at Sipajhar in Assam on Thursday that led to the death of at least 2 people in police firing.

Nine police personnel also sustained injuries in the clash.

Speaking on the matter, Assam Congress MP Ripun Bora has demanded for immediate transfer of DC and SP of Darrang district for a ‘transparent’ inquiry into the clash.

Bora, while demanding transfer of the DC and SP of Darrang district, laid stress on the SP being brother of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, which might jeopardize the inquiry process.

Notably, Sushanta Biswa Sarma, the SP of Assam’s Darrang district, is the brother of Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Meanwhile, Assam Congress MP and deputy leader of opposition in Lok Sabha – Gaurav Gogoi said: “The Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s own brother is the Superintendent Police of the Darrang district where the barbaric violence took place. It is clear that this CM-SP duo did not want a peaceful resolution to the eviction drive. The CM continues to bring shame to Assam.”
