Former two-time MLA from Assam’s Barama Assembly constituency, Paniram Rabha has passed away.
Rabha, who breathed his last on Saturday evening, was 67 at the time of his demise.
According to sources, Rabha, who was a diabetic patient, was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Guwahati after his health condition deteriorated.
While struggling for life, the former MLA passed away at the hospital in the evening on Saturday.

He was born in 1954 at Alagja village in Baksa district under the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Rabha was actively involved in the language and medium movement launched by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and started his political career promoting regionalism.
In 1985, Rabha joined the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
He was for the first time elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly in 1991 as an MLA from the Barama Assembly constituency on a party ticket from Natun Asom Gana Parishad, formed under the leadership of former home minister, late Bhrigu Kumar Phukan.
In 1996, Rabha joined the Congress and in 2001, he was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly for the second time on a Congress ticket.
Former Assam chief minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah, former minister Rekha Rani Das Boro and Congress leader & Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora have condoled the demise of Rabha.
“Very much shocked and saddened to hear about demise of the veteran advocate Niloy Dutta, one of the renowned cricket referees, a social worker and thinker. I pray to God for eternal peace of Dutta’s departed soul and my heartfelt condolences to his family in this time of grief,” Bhupen Kumar Borah tweeted.
