The two-day budget session of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) concluded on Thursday.

On the concluding day, the normal budget of Rs 241626.49 lakh for the year 2018-19, placed in the House on Wednesday by BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary, who is also holding the Finance portfolio, was approved in the House.

Mohilary on Wednesday presented the estimate receipt and expenditure of the normal budget of BTC (Councilised portion) with an estimated receipt of Rs 242987.48 lakh and estimate expenditure of Rs 241626.49 lakh with a surplus of Rs 1360.99 lakh for consideration of the House, which was read out by BTC Deputy Chief Kampa Borgoyary on behalf of BTC Chief Mohilary.

The Council’s budget stresses on improving road communication, education, rural development, health and agriculture among other development works in the Bodoland Territorial Areas District (BTAD).

Mohilary said they would appraise the State government of Assam about various issues and grievances including implementation of project and schemes in the Council among other issues.

BTC Chief Mohilary said the Council is committed to achieve the growth target fixed as per the Plan allocation. He said he and his party are resolved and determined to work even harder with cooperation of all the BTC members to bring all-round development of the BTC region.

Mohilary said the support of both the Central and State government is required to achieve the goal of bring all-round development in the region.
