Security forces seized two truckloads of illegal Burmese teak weighing 4000 cubic feet at Jharnapani in Dimapur district.
A defence release on Tuesday said acting on a tip-off, the security forces seized the two trucks with the illegal teak on August 20 and apprehended five persons in this connection.
The apprehended persons, along with the seized teak and trucks, were handed over to Dimapur Division Range Forest officials.
The Assam Rifles in January this year seized smuggled Burmese teak valued at Rs 2 crore from nine trucks near Pherima in Dimapur district. Nineteen persons who were accompanying the trucks were also apprehended.
