The proceedings in the Assam Assembly would be adjourned for thirty minutes on Wednesday during the semi-final bout of Lovlina Borgohain in Tokyo Olympics.

Lovlina Borgohain will be in pursuit of history when she lock horns with world champion Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey in the welterweight women’s boxing semi-final at the Tokyo Olympics.

Lovlina Borgohain has already assured India of another Olympics medal after defeating Chinese Taipei’s Nien-Chin Chen in the quarter final of women’s welterweight category.

Lovlina Borgohain, a two-time world championship bronze-medallist, is also the first female boxer from Assam to qualify for the Olympics.

Lovlina, who ensured India’s second medal by reaching the women’s 69kg semifinals on Friday, said she developed the fearless attitude with the passage of time.

“When I began, I was not fearless. But when I gained confidence in my abilities I did not care about what people were saying and started performing better,” Lovlina had said at a virtual press conference.
