The Arunachal Pradesh MP further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi told BJP MPs that his love and affection for the Northeast is natural, should not be looked at it from the prism of politics.

Rijiju said BJP MPs from all Northeastern states met PM on various issues, including violence on the Assam-Mizoram border.

They submitted a memorandum to PM Modi stating that parties like Congress politicking the Assam-Mizoram border issue and making proactive statements.

They expressed disapproval of attempts by a section of polity led by Congress and using these incidents to indulge in one-upmanship.

“Series of confidence-building measures have taken place over last few days. Yet actions of Congress remain as devious and mischievous,” the BJP MPs said in the memorandum.

On the meeting of BJP MPs from the Northeast, Rijiju said, “We expressed our gratitude to the PM and informed him how Congress and other parties are disrupting the peace of Northeast by politicizing this violence. We appeal to Congress to not politicize a sensitive matter.”
