Congress MP Ripun Bora on Thursday reached the parliament on bicycle as mark of protest against the rise in fuel prices.

The APCC outgoing president was seen riding bicycle on the streets of parliament shouting slogans like ‘petrol-diesel, gas ka mehengai kom karo’.

He rode a bicycle on streets on parliament with placards hanging around his neck.

The Rajya Sabha MP from Assam said that he has ridden a bicycle demanding a rollback of the fuel prices.

“I would like to draw the attention of the government that due to the exorbitant prices of petrol, diesel, LPG and other essential commodities, the people of this country have to suffer a lot,” Bora said.

“From the beginning of the parliament session, the opposition parties have been demanding that price rise issue be discussed in the House but we have not been allowed. Therefore, today I have come on the bicycle to register my protest against price rise,” added the Congress MP.

The price of petrol has crossed Rs 100 per litre-mark in most parts of the country including the four metros.
