Inter-district movement in Assam is likely to be allowed once a week. 

This was informed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday. 

CM Sarma said that complete relaxation on inter-district movement in the State might not be possible, especially ahead of Independence Day. 

However, he said that inter-district travel might be allowed only once every week, for the time being.

“Complete relaxation on inter-district movement might not be possible ahead of Independence Day. However, inter-district travel might be allowed once a week,” said Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday.

Inter-district movement in Assam has remained suspended since mid-May this year following the surge in COVID-19 cases in the State during the second wave of pandemic. 

However, with improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the State, the Assam Government is mulling to relax ban on inter-district movement partially.
