Assam’s Pranab Kumar Nath won the first position in the senior category of the 2nd International Yogasana Sports Championship virtually organised by the International Youth Yoga Federation India and Om Shaptharishi Yoga, Malaysia on the International Yoga Day.

Recently, Nath, a resident of Milan Nagar in Dibrugarh, won the first position in the senior category in the 9th Asian Yoga Sports Championship organised by the same organisations virtually.

A silent yoga exponent, Nath is an assistant director of Akashvani and Doordarshan, Dibrugarh under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In December last year, Nath won the first position in the senior category in the International Yoga Championship 2020 organised online by the Association for Yoga and Meditation (AYM) yoga school in Rishikesh, affiliated to the International Yoga Federation & Yoga Certification Board.

The practice of yoga to maintain a healthy life has now been accepted across the world as it enables every part of the human system to become attuned to its essence.

In order to get relief from stress in life, research studies have found that yoga can be effective in reducing stress and improving mental well-being, general physical and spiritual improvement.

On Sunday, President Ram Nath Kovind urged the people to embrace yoga as an essential party of daily life to fight the pandemic better.

“We all should make Pranayam and Yoga an essential part of our daily life and together we should spread it in the society. With this, we will not only be able to face the disaster brought by this pandemic, but also will be successful in building a healthy society and nation,” Kovind wrote on his Twitter handle.
