Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) has been selected as one and only nodal centre in the entire Northeastern region including Sikkim for the second consecutive time to host Smart India Hackathon 2018.
Smart India Hackathon 2018 is a non-stop digital product development competition, where problems are posed to technology students for innovative solutions.
Dean of research and consultancy GIMT, Dr Th Shanta Kumar told Northeast Now that already 41 teams had confirmed their participation in the event.
“Already 41 teams from across the country have confirmed their participation and we are expecting two more teams to confirm their participation in the event,” Dr Shanta Kumar who is also the chief coordinator of the event said.
Each team will comprise six students and two faculties in the competition. Software Edition will be 36-hour software product development competition.
GIMT is associated with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and students can solve all the problems enlisted by the Ministry.
Till date, 45+ union ministries and departments and 18 state governments have already joined this grand initiative, making it much bigger than the previous edition. Through this initiative, government departments will directly engage with thousands of technical students and challenge them to build digital solutions to improve their efficiency, plug revenue leakages and corruption.
MHRD, AICTE, i4C, and Persistent Systems are the organizers of the second edition of this initiative – Smart India Hackathon 2018.
