The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has ordered for a re-verification of beneficiaries of the Assam Government’s ambitious Orunodoi scheme in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

BTC Secretary Naren Ch Basumatary has directed the Deputy Commissioners and Block Development Officers (BDO) in the four districts under BTR for re-verification of the draft beneficiary list of Orunodoi scheme.

It is being alleged that names of many “ineligible beneficiaries” got included in the draft list.

Naren Ch Basumatary also asserted that BTC Chief Pramod Boro has asked for “cleaning up” the draft list with inclusion of only “genuine beneficiaries”.

A detailed guideline has also been prepared for the re-verification process wherein BTC Secretary, Naren Ch Basumatary exhorted the bureaucrats to expedite the process of implementation of the scheme in a time bound manner.

“The re-verification process was needed to strike off names of ‘ineligible beneficiaries’ including those from financially sound background, having government jobs in family and incorporate genuine persons who were left out in the draft,” an official said under the condition of anonymity.

Sources informed that nearly three lakh people in four BTR distriicts will be benefited from the Orunodoi scheme.
