Assam forest and environment minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Thursday inaugurated the new Raimona National Park in the Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district.
Suklabaidya also ceremonially handed over the notification Raimona as a national park to Bodoland Territorial CounciC (BTC) chief executive member Pramod Boro.
BTC executive member for forest Ranjit Basumatary and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

Located in Kokrajhar district of BTR, the Raimona National Park will comprise an area of 422 square km.
The national park is home to the golden langur, elephant, tiger, clouded leopard, wild buffalo, spotted deer, more than 150 species of butterflies, 170 species of birds, 380 species of plants and several species of orchids, etc.
The park will be administered by the Kachugaon Forest Division of BTC.
Suklabaidya said, “The Assam government is committed to the development of the Raimona National Park and other forest resources in BTR. Measures will be taken to translocate wild animals and other places in the area.”
BTR chief executive member Pramod Boro thanked the Assam government for recognizing the Raimona forest area as a national park.
He said that the Raimona National Park will attract more tourist spot in the BTR.
