Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu being greeted at the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport by Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday.

Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu arrived in Guwahati on Saturday evening. This is his maiden visit to the state as the Vice President of India.  He was accorded a ceremonial welcome by the government of Assam at the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi international airport after his arrival. He will stay at Raj Bhawan tonight.

Vice President Naidu will attend the launch of Deendayal Divyang Rehabilitation Scheme at Sarusajai stadium on Sunday. The programme has been organised on the occasion of international day of persons with disabilities.

Later the Vice President will attend the “Achiever Awards” programme organised by ‘Sadin-Pratidin’ Group as the Chief Guest.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in the city prior to M. Venkaiah Naidu’s first visit since taking oath as the Vice President of India.
