Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reiterated that the COVID-19 situation in the State is alarming.
CM Sarma said that the Assam Government will take all the measures required to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the State.
“COVID situation in Assam is alarming. We have seen that our daily cases have crossed almost 5000. Tomorrow when we meet for the first time in the cabinet, we will discuss COVID situation from all perspectives and we will take all measures required to contain COVID outbreak,” said Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the NEDA Convenor, added that unless the COVID situation in Assam is brought under control, the situation in the Northeast as a whole cannot be brought under control.

“Until and unless COVID situation in Assam is controlled, situation in Northeast will never come under control. We have our responsibility towards our citizens and entire northeast. So, Assam Government will do its best and tomorrow after cabinet meeting I will elaborate our line of action,” added the new Assam CM.
After taking oath as Assam chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that COVID-19 will be the top priority for his government and they will start working immediately after the first Cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Monday, took oath as the 15th Chief Minister of Assam.
Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sarma as the new chief minister of Assam.
He took oath in the Assamese language at 12:05 pm.
Besides Sarma, 13 other ministers also took oath at the swearing-in ceremony.
Sarma was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature Party on Sunday.
