The Arunachal Pradesh Government has decided to impose lockdown in Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) from May 10. 

The lockdown in ICR which will come into effect from May 10 will be a week-long lockdown. 

The decision to impose the lockdown in ICR was taken by the Arunachal Pradesh in view of the rising cases in the area. 

The Itanagar Capital Region comprises of ItanagarNaharlagun and Banderdewa.

The announcement of lockdown was made by ICR Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom on Friday. 

With a sudden spike in the number of positive COVID-19 cases in Itanagar Capital Region, it is being decided that lockdown will come into effect from May 10,” ICR Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom said. 

“The lockdown will be imposed in ICR as a precautionary measure to curb the sudden rise in COVID-19 positive cases,” Potom added. 

Talo Potom further informed that extensive and intensive contract would be conducted during the lockdown period.

Notably, the ICR district administration had declared several areas in ICR as micro-containment zones on Thursday. 

Meanwhile, the night curfew timings in Arunachal Pradesh have been advanced from 9pm to 6:30pm and will be in place till 5 in the morning.
