Petrol and diesel prices have been hiked for the first time after a gap of over two months, soon after the assembly elections in four states and a Union Territory got over.

According to India’s largest fuel retailer, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 90.55 per litre and diesel at Rs 80.91 per litre on Tuesday.

Petrol and diesel prices in India remained subdued during the elections.

Three government-run OMC—Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)—refrained from raising prices during the elections.
