The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) has asked the Assam government to accord stringent punishment to the culprits involved in the recent rape and murder of a woman in Udalguri.

On April 10 Anjali Basumatary, mother of a five-year- old girl was raped and murdered in Udalguri.

The ABSU also strongly condemned the incidents of rape and murder of a teenaged tribal girl at Raha in Nagaon, who was set ablaze by the suspects.

The teenager worked as a maid at the house of Prakash Borthakur.

“Such a brutal incident the accused must be arrested and punished. The state government should ensure that the family of the victim gets justice,” said an ABSU member.

The organization also condemned the recent incident of killing an elderly woman suspecting her to be at witch at Gerguajuli  in Sonitpur district, is very unfortunate and detrimental to the good society.

Her grandson who was living with her somehow escaped unhurt from the clutches of the culprits.

ABSU also appealed to the society to not give precedence to superstitions.

Amidst the pandemic ABSU appeals all sections of people in the society to keep following the SOP and Covid protocols as per the guidelines by the government to prevent the spread of Covid19.  Appeals all the people as per age appropriate to get covid vaccination.
