Senior journalist from Assam – Aiyushman Dutta passed away on Monday. 

Aiyushman Dutta succumbed to COVID-19 at the Hayat Hospital in Guwahati on Monday evening. 

Aiyushman Dutta’s recovery depended upon plasma therapy. 

However, despite best of efforts put in by family and friends, plasma could not be arranged on time. 

Moreover, family and friends of Aiyushman Dutta also tried to arrange an injection by the name – Tocilizumab. 

But the injection was not available in Guwahati. 

Dutta was on ventilator support.

Aiyushman Dutta was the editor of Melange section of the The Sentinel newspaper in Guwahati.

Aiyushman Dutta was a specialist in folk and cultural traditions of northeast India.

He was also the founder and curator of the Guwahati International Music Festival.

Aiyushman Dutta also directed several docu-features on folk traditions and life and culture in the Northeast.

His published works include a coffee table book on music, dance and culture of the Northeast, a coffee table on Hornbill festival and Food Trail: Discovering Food Culture of Northeast India.

Meanwhile, the Guwahati Press Club has expressed shock and extended condolences over the demise of Aiyushman Dutta.
