Union home minister Amit Shah said the people participating in Kumbh and Ramzan festivities are not following Covid19 protocols laid down by the government.
Stating that the current wave of the pandemic is “certainly problematic”, home minister Shah said the government has taken the right decisions to ensure victory in its fight against Covid19.
Amit Shah in an interview with Times Now said: “Whether it is Kumbh or Ramzan, there has been no Covid-appropriate behaviour. It cannot happen. That is why we had to appeal and the Kumbh has now turned symbolic.”
The Union home minister said wherever there is a second wave or third wave, each new wave has been at least twice the size of the earlier one.

Shah said, “The new variant of the virus spreads at a fast pace. It is less lethal but spreads faster.”
Mentioning that the scientists are studying new mutants and will be able to come with solutions, Shah said: “The speed at which the virus is spreading today is certainly problematic but I have full faith that we will win the second fight against the Covid19 pandemic.”

Regarding the possibility of a lockdown, home minister Shah said the states have to take a decision in this regard.
He said the Centre has allowed the states to impose restrictions as per their analysis.
Shah said, “Every state is fighting a different battle.”
In reply to the query that the political parties are carrying on with their campaign amid surging Covid19 cases, Shah said the issue comes under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission.
