Union home minister Amit Shah skipped campaigning for Assam finance minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday.
Union home minister Shah was in Assam on Sunday to campaign in Sarbhog, Bhabanipur and Jalukbari Assembly constituencies.
These constituencies will go to polls in the third and final phase of the ongoing Assam Assembly election 2021, on April 6.
He addressed an election rally at Sarbhog Assembly constituency for party candidate Sankar Chandra Das but skipped the two other rallies that he was supposed to attend at Bhabanipur and Jalukbari.

In Sarbhag, CPI(M), one of the partners of Congress-led ‘Grand Alliance’, has fielded Manoranjan Talukdar.
In Bhabanipur constituency, BJP’s ally, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has fielded Ranjit Deka.
In this constituency, Deka has been pitted against Raijor Dal candidate Kamal Kumar Medhi and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) candidate Phani Talukdar.
AIUDF is a partner of the ‘Grand Alliance’.
From the Jalukbari Assembly constituency, Assam minister and BJP-led North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma is seeking re-election.
Home minister Amit Shah cut short his Assam visit as well as his scheduled election rallies at Bhabanipur and Jalukbari due to the Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.

He rushed to Delhi for an emergency meeting to be held in the national capital to discuss the attack.
While sharing pictures of Amit Shah’s Sarbhog rally, Union DoNER minister and BJP’s in-charge for poll, Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted: “Today’s first #Assam rally by HM Sh @AmitShah at Sarbhog, before he cut short his visit as well as other 2 rallies and returned to Delhi in view of Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh. Crowds in thousands from all sections of society, thronged the jam-packed venue.”

At least 22 security personnel were martyred during Naxal attack at Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.
A braveheart from Assam also lost his life in the attack.
