In their continued efforts against smuggling activities in Mizoram, the Assam Rifles troops recovered a consignment of smuggled Ginseng at Lungpuk in Lunglei district.

Assam Rifles troops also nabbed three persons in connection with the recovery.

The operation was carried out by the Lunglei Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East).

During the operation, carried out on the basis of specific information, the Assam Rifles personnel recovered of 1,293 kg of Ginseng.

The approximate market value of the recovered Ginseng is Rs 77,58,000.

The customs department later seized the consignment of the contraband items.

They also detained three individuals.

The ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar border.

Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’, has continued their crusade against the smuggling activities in Mizoram.
