Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma on Saturday reviewed the state’s medical drug procurement process during a meeting with health officials at Shillong.
The chief minister emphasized the need to improve the drug procurement process so as to ensure a continuous supply of medicines in the state.
He also directed health officials to ensure that no ailing person has to suffer because of a lack of essential drug in the hospitals in the state.

Meghalaya recently devised a three-dimensional State Health Policy that focuses on prevention, curative and enabling aspects of the healthcare system.
The policy entails provisions to make affordable and quality healthcare facilities available to the poor and marginalized.
It also lays special emphasis on a decentralized catalytic leadership model that involves all stakeholders representing all departments concerned at the PHC and CHC levels.
The use of artificial intelligence and technology will also be incorporated to guarantee timely healthcare to all.
