Assam Congress leader and party’s candidate from Jorhat constituency has alleged that if BJP returns to power, the price of cooking gas will rise up to Rs 2000 and price of petrol will rise up to Rs 250.

Launching a scathing attack on the ruling BJP, Assam Congress leader Rana Goswami said that BJP is not a pro-poor party.

“BJP is not a party for the poor, it is a party working for the rich,” said Rana Goswami.

Further hitting out at the BJP, Rana Goswami said that the saffron brigade is certain of their defeat in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections and as such are rushing their top central leaders to the poll-bound state in a bid to avert the inevitable.

“People in Assam can no longer be fooled by the BJP. The people have realised that the BJP is not working for them,” said Rana Goswami.

“People are hit by high prices of commodities like never before. Deep holes in the pockets of the common man have been made by the pro-rich BJP,” added Rana Goswami.

Rana Goswami also dared Assam Minister and BJP leader for an open debate over a range of issues affecting the people of the State.

Rana Goswami challenged Himanta Biswa Sarma to sit for an open debade on issues like – Citizenship Amendment Act, price rise, tea workers wage, unemployment, etc.

“I challenge him for an open debate on the promises he made prior to the 2016 Assembly elections. The BJP promised employment to 25 lakh youth in Assam annually, Rs 350 as wages to the tea workers, bringing down prices and ousting illegal migrants. How much of these promises have been fulfilled? Goswami asked.

“I challenge Sarma to say that the BJP had passed the Citizenship Amendment Act, in all the meetings that he addresses. It is the BJP that will settle lakhs of illegal migrants in Assam and not the other way round,” Goswami added.
