“Trial against Akhil Gogoi is political, not criminal.”

This was stated by noted rights activist of the country – Yogendra Yadav.

Yogendra Yadav made this explosive statement after meeting Raijor Dal chief Akhil Gogoi at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati on Sunday.

Speaking to the media after meeting Akhil Gogoi, Yogendra Yadav said, “It is unfortunate that people who should be behind the bars are in power and those who should be free are languishing in jail. Akhil Gogoi’s trail is not a criminal trial but a political trial.”

Yogendra Yadav said that Akhil Gogoi has been kept in the jail to ensure that he do not get in touch with the people during the elections.

“This was done to prevent him (Akhil Gogoi) from addressing people during the election,” Yogendra Yadav added.

“He has been subjected to considerable mental torture and his medical condition has deteriorated,” said Yogendra Yadav.

Kisan Sangharsh Samiti leader Sunilam also met Akhil Gogoi at the GMCH on Sunday.

“We have come with one message that the BJP should be ousted for the way it has treated farmers and taken decisions against their interests and welfare,” said Sunilam.
