Three Myanmar nationals, believed to be Myanmar police officials, have crossed over to Mizoram seeking refuge in India.
According to a media report, the Myanmar nationals escaped action from the military for their failure to follow certain orders.
The report quoted a police officer of Mizoram’s Serchhip district saying that the district authorities have provided them food and security.
The report quoted Serchhip deputy commissioner Kumar Abhishek as saying that it is yet to be confirmed whether the foreign nationals are Myanmar police officers or not.

However, he said “they crossed over yesterday (Wednesday)” and they have been kept in a community hall at Lungkawlh village.
Lungkawlh village is located about 8 km from the international border with Myanmar.
At least 38 people were killed in anti-coup protests in Myanmar in the bloodiest crackdown on peaceful demonstrations since the military coup on February 1, the United Nations said.
India shares a 1,643-km land border with Myanmar.
“We are checking their credentials and have submitted a report to the Home department. We are now waiting for instructions,” the report quoted the DC as saying.
