The Central Institute of Technology (CIT) located at Kokrajhar in western Assam has been declared a containment zone after five students of the institution tested positive for COVID -19.

The five students of the institution were detected positive on Tuesday during the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) in the RNB Civil Hospital in Kokrajhar.

The entire complex of CIT Kokrajhar was sealed on Wednesday until further notice.

As per the government order, no entry and exit of people will be allowed, and vehicular movement will be strictly prohibited.

The District Magistrate of Kokrajhar Bhaskar Phukan in the order also said that as per the Assam COVID -19 Regulation order, the protocol of COVID-19 would be strictly enforced until further order from 6 pm of February 24.

Out of the students who tested positive, three of them hail from West Bengal, Meghalaya and Tripura while two students are from Assam’s Sivasagar and Kamrup (Metro) districts.
